Brisbane Weekend

On the weekend I travelled down from Townsville to have a weekend of R & R with Tarsh who skipped across the Tasman to meet me Thursday night. Between a fast flight from New Zealand and the Drivers scheduled arrival time, Tarsh missed the pickup and caught a taxi to meet me at the airport. Our Driver, Gavin caught up with us at the Domestic and we proceeded to the city from there. After we checked into the hotel, we headed to the Eagle St waterfront and had a relaxing beer or three. On Friday Tarsh and I headed to Dreamworld, via a drop off from Gavin again. Dreamworld was awesome ! We spent the whole day walking around, patting kangaroos, feeding animals, watching shows and going on the adrenaline packed rides....sorry that was just me, Tarsh watched from the safety of the ground. Friday night we went out to dinner on the waterfront in Brisbane, a great night with great food. Saturday Gavin picked us up and we headed for the Goldcoast to have a look around and a swim, Saturday night we got back to Brisbane just in time to catch the super 14 semi final. Sunday was a lazy day of checking out of the hotel and heading up to Mount Coot-tha for a great view over Brisbane before heading for some lunch with one of my other WA mates, Robbie. In all a great weekend was had, many thanks to Gavin for his kind and hilarous driving in and around Brisbane, Tarsh and I had a great time. Cheers...

Townsville, Queensland - Stint #2

Well I am back in Townsville, another month here and then back to cold, cold New Zealand. It has cooled down here but still shirt and shorts weather. On the 18th of May to the 21st Tarsh and I will be heading to Brisbane to do a bit of sight seeing, visit the Gold Coast and generally relax in the sunshine state. Will be catching up with a few mates, Gavin and Rob and no doubt we'll hit the pubs hard whilst we are there. Should be great fun. . .
On the weekend I managed to get out of the hotel room and catch a 20 min ferry ride over to Magnetic Island (The island in my other photos of Townsville). Now Magentic Island is one of the most varied Great Barrier Reef Islands as two thrids of it is National Park and has around 2000 full time residents with plenty of hotel development happening. Great place with plenty to do, I managed to go on a three hour hike up to the ridge line of Mount Cook and relax in the National Park viewing Horseshoe Bay and surrounding areas. Whilst treking through the range I got my first glimpse of a (in the wild) Koala Bear. Pretty cool little animals. In all a good day but I will admit my feet were sore from the 6km walk. A few photos of Townsville and Magnetic Island and of course my first Koala Bear...
