WA Christmas Pt 1

One week in and already loads of photos!

Geraldton welcomed us with a scorching 40 degrees the first few days, but thankfully it has since cooled down to mid 20s.

We spent some time up at the Geraldton sand dunes, theres a pic of me on top of one and Travis calls out to me to walk down it, which I wasnt very keen on, so I kind of bum-slid most of the way down. Found that to be a bad idea later on.

Christmas day was hot, I got a very Australian cork hat, and Travis got a West Coast Eagles singlet you can see, plus loads of other gifts (we were really spoilt!). Then we went out to his cousins place for lunch which was awesome - prawn cocktails, ham, chicken, pork, crayfish, potato bakes and salads, I felt like a walking balloon after lunch!

I have also been introduced to a few new things... crabbing for example. Until now, I have tried to keep as far away from crab infested waters as I can, but not over here, they go fish them up!
Just to be clear, I didnt go in the water once, even my posed up photo with the crab my feet stayed dry. But it was fun, spying them out, watching the boys with the nets and pots and having a lot of laughs.

We have been camping as well, about 20 minutes north of Geraldton, then about 30 minutes on a sand track, really wopps-ville for a kiwi chick! It was awesome though, nice and warm, we had campfired dinner, played cricket, did a bit of fishing (didnt catch any though, Im beggining to suspect they dont actually have any fish in Australian waters, just sharks and crays)

New Years was at Mitch and Kristies, about 30 mates over and a good time had by some more than others... Lets just say on new years day there was a missing goldfish, a hickey, 2 backyards filled with bits of exploded onions and a lot of empty bottles - and thats just what we know of!

Now everyone has gone back to work and so Travis is going to take me sightseeing to a few small towns nearby over the next few days, then we are back to Perth for a week.

So as you can tell, and see, its been an awesome holiday so far, and we are only half way!!
