Stoney Batter @ Waiheke Island
Whilst on Waiheke Island we visited Stoney Batter & to my understanding it is an old war post as to which the kiwi's built to protect Auckland from unwanted ocean vistors. It consists of hilly wine country with Old Gun Turret posts which are connected by a series of tunnels, really quite amazing considering the rest of the world probably didnt know New Zealand existed in 1940... http://www.villapacifica.co.nz/gallery/pages/stoney_batter.htm
It was a great day with beautiful views towards the cormandel peninsula and the Great Barrier Islands, the countryside was scattered with big boulders from a nearby volcano many years ago..

Graeme @ the entrance to the tunnels.
Graeme and Tarsh playing in the old gun turrets. In contrast to tarsh's sheep comment in Australia,
it didn't take me long to find a sheep that was shagged...
A part of stoney batter.Wedding in Waiheke
On the weekend Tarsh, Graeme, Pamela, Jonelle and myself went to Reghan and Emma's wedding on Waiheke Island. A great time was had and the weather turned it on, it was a little too hot for most of the kiwi's who ventured to the shade before the ceremony was offically over.
